Investment Recommendations
In order to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in the process of choosing and recommending fund managers, determining asset allocations for portfolios and all other investment related decisions, Outlook has an in-house “Investment Committee”.
The Outlook Investment Committee is chaired by an independent asset consultant. Meeting at least monthly, the Investment Committee is responsible for most areas regarding investment decisions for clients. Some of the responsibilities of the committee are detailed below.
Discuss & review all Outlook recommended fund managers
This process includes comparing Outlook recommended fund managers to the relevant benchmark and to their sector peers.
Monthly performance table
The committee collates and prepares a performance table that details the under or out-performance of the Outlook recommended fund managers as measured against the relevant benchmark over 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and 3 years.
As a result, the committee can clearly assess each recommended manager and decide the future path of action.
Tabulating returns per portfolio category
Separate performance tables assess the net return generated by each portfolio as per their risk profile grouping. This return is then compared to the benchmark.
Research
While Outlook relies on external independent research, for fund manager recommendations and assessment, asset allocation & ratings, the Investment Committee makes the final decisions on the products that are approved for our clients.
Regular meetings with the research house allows us to discuss any issues regarding the products being added or removed from the Outlook approved product list.
From time to time meetings are also arranged with fund managers to discuss issues like performance, investment strategies etc.
Our Australian Financial Services Licence allows us access to a wide range of products that we can use at our discretion.
Other external resources
The Investment Committee discusses and reviews market commentaries produced by economists, Government agencies, fund managers etc. as appropriate.
Portfolio construction
The Outlook Investment Committee has control over the strategic asset allocation of all portfolios, including asset class selection & their composition. The information gathered from various sources allows the committee to make informed decisions.
New avenues & options
The committee reviews and discusses new investment products to determine their suitability for Outlook clients. The committee is the source through which we are constantly looking at ways to enhance returns, reduce risk and provide cost effective portfolios (lower Management Expense Ratios) for our clients.
All investment recommendations made to our clients are an outcome of extensive independent research, analysis, review and discussion. The Outlook Investment Committee is constantly assessing and monitoring its investment recommendations. This process ensures that you receive high quality advice based on factual data and professional assessment.
